Babies Have Arrived!

Yesterday was such an exciting day! We welcomed 7 beautiful babies into the world who are out of Gracie and Gibson.

On Tuesday, Gracie’s temperature had dropped to 98, so we knew puppies were soon in our future. At noon, I called and asked mom to check her temperature. She immediately called back informing me that her temperature was 98 degrees with two different thermometers. Most people would think that this is a sign that puppies are coming in 12-24 hours. But no, not my mom! To her, it meant that 2 thermometers might be broken! So she jumped in the car and ran to Wal-Mart and purchased 2 new thermometers. Obviously, they confirmed what the other two had already told her.

She has always whelped throughout the night, so naturally we expected another nighttime litter. However, she made it through the night. I call mom every morning at 7:30 to check in and mom’s first few words were that she thinks Gracie will go another day. I said “No way! I bet she has them soon!” Sure enough, mom checked on her and she was pushing!

I decided to take off work at noon to help with the birthing. I’m always out of town so I’ve always missed the birthing. But I was determined to be there for this litter. After all, it was Gracie’s last and Gibson’s first!

Here are a few pictures of the babies! Hope everyone enjoys! 4 girls and 3 boys.

The Search For The Perfect Shoe!

I hate dog show shoes and I hate shopping for them! Today on my lunch break I decided to go to Dillard's to look for some new shoes. I've been wanting something in a pewter color instead of my traditional black. I found a couple of cute shoes that I wanted to try one so the guy went to get them for me. When he brought them back, he sat down on one of those creepy shoe salesman chairs in front of me and acted like he was going to put them on my feet.... ewwww! I don't have nasty feet by any means, but I hate feet and I don't like people touching my feet! So I quickly yanked them from his hands and put them on myself.

Then he asked what occasion I was buying the shoes for. This is typically not a big deal, but when you tell people that you are buying shoes to show dogs in, they always look at you like you are a crazy dog lady. Then you have to explain to them that you have to have rubber soles so you can run in them. So today, instead of answering the question, I just said "You don't want to know!" Lord knows what the guy was thinking.

Anyway, here are the shoes that I tried on. Now I'm trying to decide which ones I want. Any opinions?

10 Days To Go!

Mom sent me some super cute photos of Gracie from today. Apparently she was chasing butterflies and talking about it. They are not the best quality photos, but they sure are cute of her!

A Beautiful Weekend for Training!

The weather is getting super warm in Arkansas for March, but it is beautiful! Mom, Jackie Paul and I got together on Saturday for a quick training class outside. We worked the dogs in a field a few houses down from my mother's and it was simply beautiful outside. The neighbor even came over to meet the dogs and take a few photos. He’s a famous watercolor artist named Bob Snider and wants to paint one of the Pointers. Apparently he grew up with Pointers!

Jackie Paul owns Doctor who is out of Gracie and Cloud. He sure is a silly young boy! He finished his championship very quickly, and now Jackie has decided to work on his Grand Championship. Since Jackie broke her toe last week, she asked me to move him…… Well, I tried! He seriously acted like a fool for me- I was so embarrassed!

We also worked Gibson and Moses. Gibson did great. He is truly a beautiful dog and his personality makes him shine. He has not been the easiest dog to train (he’d rather jump in the air and love on me), but I really enjoy working with him. We have a very special bond together and he literally thinks that he owns me (which to be honest, he does!). I have really tried to get serious with him in the ring and have stopped letting him play around…. And I think the both of us are finally getting in sync with each other.

Moses also did great! He is a funny little boy.... when I start working him, he wants nothing to do but jump on me and love on me. So I always have to spend a few minutes letting him act silly and jump around. After that, he means business! I love the way he moves beautifully on a loose lead and he can definitely nail a free stack like none other!

And of course I have to share a picture of Gracie! This picture was taken on Saturday at day 49. I'm just shocked at how big she is with 2 weeks to go. The ultrasound (at 28 days) showed 5-6 puppies, but I'm beginning to think some were hiding that day. She will have an x-ray a week from today. Any guesses?

Ummm...... Good Lord!

OMG!!! What can I say? She has 2 ½ weeks left to go and she is already this BIG!

Yes, Gracie! You Are Getting Big!!

I saw Gracie this past Sunday at Mom’s house and it was quit obvious that she was pregnant. But she has literally doubled in 4 days since then. It is always amazing how fast they get big once they start to show. Luckily we don’t have to worry about another huge litter since we have already had an ultrasound, but I bet those suckers will be big from the looks of her now!

Yesterday, when Mom put her outside, all Gracie wanted to do was talk about food. If you know Gracie, then you know she is a talker….. and boooy it is cute!

Since it is raining outside today, Gracie has decided to spend a lazy day in her favorite bed. Luckily she doesn’t care that she is getting too big for it!

A little more than 3 weeks and those precious babies will be here!

A Day at the Park with Gibson

Yesterday was a beautiful day in Arkansas! The skies were blue and the weather was nice, so we decided to head to Pinnacle Mountain State Park with Gibson for some photos and a good time.

Dad took the big camera and mom used Hipstamatic on the iPhone. These pictures were all taken with Hipstamatic. If you don't have this app, I must say that it is totally worth the $1.99!

And as you will see below, my dad can have a funny sense of humor!

I love beautiful Pinnacle Mountain in the background. This is just a mile down the road from my parent's house.

Gibson was crazy in the woods! The boy was ready to hunt!

Gibson is the SHIT! (Dad's idea)  :-)

My beautiful mother!

In the News!

A few weeks ago we attended the Camden, AR dog shows. The show is pretty much in the middle of nowhere in Arkansas- but it has a huge facility with lots of grass, friendly kennel club members and great judges. After the show, the show chairman Darleen Wheelington messaged me asking for my mailing address so that she could send me the local paper. Apparently Gibson and I made the cut!
