A Cold But Successful Weekend!!

This weekend we attended the Benton, AR shows, which is only a 20-minute drive from the house. Temperatures started off each morning in the low 30s!!! YIKES!!! And the show was outdoors- even bigger YIKES!! But mom and I managed to survive the cold and we had a pretty good weekend!

On Saturday, Gibson won Best of Breed and made the cut in the group.  In between breed and groups we had breakfast and then went to visit my grandpa in the nursing home. Gibson had a great time visiting Papaw, and Papaw was pretty excited too! Papaw said “I’ve been wanting to see Gibson, but I know he’s been pretty busy!” I thought that was really cute. Mom even managed to take a few photos.

After Best in Show, we were suckered into entering a puppy match with Harper. All of our friends were there with their cute puppies, so we decided to enter. As I entered, I said to myself “I’m going to be cussing myself latter for this!” because I knew the match would take forever and we would get home late. Needless to say, I was right!!! When the match started, there was only one ring and one judge- and they had no idea what the order was. After we waited for over an hour, mom went up to the ring steward and asked if someone else could judge the Sporting group…. and luckily they said yes! So we found another judge and the Sporting group started! Harper won Group 1 in a pretty tough puppy group. I even fell in love with the Weim puppy, Jet! That boy sure has a great future ahead of himself.
"Hey! Who are you??"

On Sunday, Gibson won Best of Breed and Group 1. During our down time, mom and I went for a walk and took a few pictures of the boy.

By the end of the day I was so exhausted from being cold all weekend and I was ready to get home to my family and bed! Next weekend we also show outside.…so I’m starting to pray for warm temperatures now!

Gloomy October Day

This past week my 94 year old grandfather (my mom's dad) was admitted to the hospital with pneumonia, congestive heart failure and low blood counts. So needless to say, the entire family has been busy with hospital visits- especially my mom. Now that my grandfather seems to be doing a little better, my mom was able to spend the morning at the house and took photos of the dogs.

Hot Springs, AR Dog Show

Last weekend we attended the Hot Springs, AR Dog Show. Even though it was only 45 minutes away from the house, we decided to stay in a hotel. Rachael Murphy also drove in from South Carolina for the Toy show. We also had Emily Smith (who owns Winston) and Lillian (who owns Toddy) join us for the puppies first show weekend!

Emily ran into a bit of a problem before leaving for the show. She let Winston outside to potty for 5 minutes and he came in completely covered in mud.... and not just a little mud, but A LOT OF MUD. And of course when he came into the house he laid down like a complete limp noodle, making it almost impossible to clean up and get into the tub.
Winston- The Bad Dog!!
Thankfully Winston cleaned up good! He went on to go Best of Winners for a point both days. He also competed in the APC Progressive Puppy Competition and won Best in Match! Now he is qualified to compete in the final competition at the 2013 APC National Specialty!
Winston- The BIG Winner! :-)

Toddy (Lillian's puppy) was Winners Bitch for a point both days. She also won Best Opposite in the APC Progressive Puppy Competition and has also qualified for the final competition.

Gibson won Best of Breed both days over a nice entry of specials. He also went on to win a Group 3 and Group 4.

Our friend Rachael Murphy brought Vanna with her. Vanna was out of our litter a couple of years ago out of Rain and Maynard. It was nice to see her and we thought she looked great! This is just a photo of her standing outside of the ring waiting to go in- what a pretty girl!

Rachael also brought some super cute Chihuahuas with her!!! As some of yall know, I got a Chihuahua from Rachael about 10 years ago named Abe..... so I'm kinda fond of the breed. They are such cute little dogs!

We also brought Harper with us for the ride. She must think that going to dog shows is like going to a party! As soon as she got to the show, people were running up to play with her.

Checking Things Out!

Harper has been settling in well at her new home and really enjoys exploring around the house. Here are a few fun photos of her running around.

Potty Break!
