We cannot wait to see how both of these beautiful dogs produce together. Babies are due on April Fools' Day!!

Jack- MBIS, BISS, CH Alydar's Day Tripper

I was going through some old photos last night and came across a file titled "Jack." Before I even opened the folder, my eyes started to tear up just thinking about him.

For those of you that don't know who Jack was, he was one of the most amazing Pointers ever! MBIS, BISS CH Alydar's Day Tripper was bred by Rachel Murphy and owned by my Uncle John and myself. He spent a couple of years with Clint Livingston and Janice Hayes becoming America's number 1 Pointer. After he retired, he came home to live with Uncle John and my grandfather Papaw.

Jack passed away this past June and has left a huge hole in our hearts. He is the father of Gracie, who is our foundation bitch and he has left behind a great legacy of beautiful Pointers.

Thank you Rick for everything! We are lucky to have you as part of "Team Gibson!"

Heart of Gold!

What an exciting morning! I woke up bright eyed and bushy tailed at 4am and started to think about Gibson. I normally wake up at 6am, but there was just no way I could go back to sleep. Even though I was at home, I was as excited as ever about Gibson showing at Westminster.

I finally decided to take a shower and when I got out, I already had a million text messages from people there going to watch Gibson- and that’s when I started to get nervous! It was probably a good thing that Gibson was with Michael this year because I’m sure that if I were there, I would have been really nervous! I'm also kinda superstitious! Gibson's arm band number is 7, which is mom's birthday. And while I was watching the Today show, I heard them say "heart of gold" during a news story- thats Gibson's name! And not to mention that it is also Valentine's day!

Of course Pointers started right when I had to leave to take Jackson to daycare! And of course they were streaming Vizslas instead of Pointers! So I left my house and drove off as a nervous wreck. I know you aren’t supposed to text and drive, but my phone was going off like crazy… thankfully there were plenty of red lights!

When I pulled up to daycare, I realized that I completely forgot Jackson’s Valentines party stuff! Oh well… BAD MOM! Then my phone rang super loud in the middle of his class and the teacher looked at me like I was crazy. So I pretty much dropped Jackson off and ran to the car to find out what was going on (my poor child).

My baby boy won 1st Award of Merit!!!! I was so excited and so proud of him! Here are a few pictures that I have received from friends. I'm sure there will be more in the future.

If you would like to watch the video of all of the Pointers, please go to Pointer Video on the Westminster web site.

I also want to give a huge congratulations to all of the winners today!

Gibson's Big Day!

Tomorrow is the Big Day and I’m already getting nervous! As most of you know, Gibson is with Michael Scott in New York getting ready to compete at the famous Westminster Dog Show. I had originally planned on attending this year, but I have to carefully pick and choose how I use my vacation time at work…. and Westminster just didn’t fit into the schedule this year.

Of course everyone enters with the hopes of bringing home the big ribbon, and we are no different. For the past few months, I have diligently been working with Gibson to get him ready for the big show. At 16 months of age, he will probably be the youngest and the least experienced Pointer entered. But not to worry, his big smile will more than make up for it! Gibson truly loves life and loves to show…. and if you have ever been around him, you know what I mean.

Pointers are first thing in the ring at 8:30CT, which is 7:30 my time. Needless to say, my stomach will be in knots while I’m taking Jackson to daycare. I will be glued to my phone waiting to see how he did and hoping that I get a few text pictures from my friends that are there to watch. At first I was worried that Gibson wasn’t going to have anyone there to cheer him on, but now I’m starting to think that the boy has a big following! We’ve had emails/ phone calls/ text messages from several people going to watch him. VERY EXCITING! As long as Gibson shows well and looks great, I’ll be more than happy! Wait... who am I kidding? I want him to win!! hehe!  :-)

Good luck to Michael and Gibson!

Progesterone Testing?

Breeding dogs is never a simple task. My mother has always been in charge of the actual breedings, but now I’m determined to learn so that one day I can take over. In the past, we have always done natural breedings without progesterone tests. But now as I learn, I’m learning the benefits to progesterone testing and AI.

Progesterone testing is especially important for stud dog management. Because all heat cycles are different, I think it’s always best to do a progesterone test before a female is sent to the male. It can give you a better idea of when the optimal day of breeding will be. Once the progesterone number reaches 5, it takes 48 hours for the eggs to ripen.

As someone who manages a stud dog, I will now require all females have at least one progesterone test before they come to my male. It just saves a lot of time for both the bitch owner and us. I know there are a lot of people that do not do any progesterone testing, and in fact some are against it completely. However, we all live busy lives and very few people have the option of taking a week off to travel to a stud dog and wait for a breeding to take place before they go home. Progesterone testing just makes the process much easier and exact!

Here are a few pictures of some past litters. Hope you enjoy! We are looking forward to future litters!

On Sunday in Pine Bluff, we were the first thing in the ring.... which means we got to come home early! My friend, Bonnie Bennett, did get a video of Bunny before we went into the ring.
On our way home, we decided to stop at a nearby park and play with the pups one last time. Here are a few more shots of Moses. I've really got to start working with getting him trained.

And one final picture.... .my precious son Jackson!! While we were watching the Super Bowl last night, he wanted to have his picture taken a million times and then run to the camera to look at himself! What a stinker!

Off to our first show of the year!

We officially went to our first show of the year in Pine Bluff, Arkansas. The show is only 45 minutes from home, but we still decided to spend the night in a hotel tonight.

I only had Bunny and Kingsley (Westie) to show. Even though Kingsley pooped In the ring, he still went WD and BOB to become a CHAMPION! Thank you sweet baby Jesus. Kingsley is a beautiful dog but hates to walk around the ring. After months of dragging him around, he is finally a champion! Now my weekends will not be filled with pulling hairs out of a dogs butt.

After Westies I showed Bunny. She showed great! Of course there were no points, but the judge (Houston Clark) seriously considered giving her breed over a multiple BIS winning bitch. Afterwards he commented on how beautiful she was. Made me proud!

Before bed, I did get a chance to work Moses. I've been concentrating on Bunny....but now it's time to work Mister MoMo. He is such a beautiful dog. Here are a few pictures that Mom took.

Tomorrow we get to meet Daniela Weiner and her new pup from Lee Ann!

Good night!

Pointer Art!

I love art, creativity and design so it's no wonder that I married a graphic designer/artist. What's even better is that my younger sister's boyfriend is one too!!! David Soames Gonzalez does really cool prints and t-shirt designs. Check out his latest creation that he designed for my mother's Christmas present. It just so happens to be a Pointer!

This cool design can be made into a print, framed art and canvasses. It would only be better if it would come on a t-shirt! Check out this website to purchase this awesome piece of art: http://society6.com/dbldragon/Pointer_Print. It also comes in a Dachshund and Lab.

More Winter?!

It looks like Punxsutawney Phil declared six more weeks of winter. Funny thing is... we haven't even had winter! This time last year we were snowed in with freezing temperatures. This year, my flowers are starting to bloom and trees are growing. And of course the dogs are enjoying the warmer temperatures!

The Devil: Bunny!

I'm sure you are wondering why I called Bunny "The Devil." Well let me tell you.... she is a stinker. Always jumping on countertops. Stealing stuff out of the garage. Constantly jumping on Mom & Dad. You name it, she does it! However, I must say that she is a wonderful show dog. I Love Some Bunny!!
